Understanding Your Own and Others Communication Styles with Helen Rogerson, Leadership EQ

Every person you work and interact with is different. From family to employees, to clients to contractors, they all have different needs and communication styles.

This session will introduce you to DISC, a model which will help you understand and interact more effectively with others.

DISC is a way of identifying where individuals fit in the four categories, each represented by a letter – D, I, S or C.  This seemingly simple concept, however, opens up a world of insight into the intricacies of human behaviour, communication styles, and motivations. It helps you understand their actions and reactions, and why they say and act in certain ways.

From this session you will improve your understanding of yourself and others to build better relationships.

You can complete a self-assessment prior to the session.

A simple and free online DISC assessment can be found on this link: https://www.123test.com/disc-personality-test/

Or you can print out and complete Quick DISC Quiz PDF that is listed in the resources section below the video.

Learning Objectives: from this session, you will learn about:

  1. The behaviours associated with each of the four profiles
  2. How to more effectively communicate with each profile
  3. How to adapt your communication style to get the best results
  4. Why conflict occurs and how to deal with it.
