Module Outcomes
This Module introduces emotional intelligence [EI] as the ability to manage your emotions and recognise others’ emotions, with practical focus for work and life. The Module explores core EI skills, how to develop it, and how EI supports leadership, team dynamics, and personal wellbeing. You will learn about:
- What is EI: definition and why it matters for relationships and performance.
- Learnable skills: which emotional skills can be developed and how to practise them.
- Empathy types: cognitive versus emotional empathy illustrated by Apples’ story.
- Practical leadership: truth and expectations, micromanagement versus empowerment, and getting team buy-in.
- Change and influence: managing resistant followers, first follower dynamics, and building momentum.
- Support network: identify who fills or drains your energy, build your village with intent, and set boundaries.
