Get Personal with Systems with John Tonkin, Brain in a Box

There are people who think of systems as dry, impersonal instructions that will guide the user to complete a task. This can be true, but taking a different perspective will show systems as an enabler in so many aspects of life.

Systems, among other things, present the STEPS to achieve a particular outcome, the options available at each DECISION along the way to that result, and GUIDANCE to explain the steps and options. Effective systems will help you get to the desired outcome based on the decisions you make.

Isn’t that what life is all about? Follow these steps, and you’ll make the best decision to achieve good health. Follow these steps and you’ll sleep better. Do these exercises and you’ll be fitter, stronger and healthier.

Life is systems. Even when the steps are not clear and we don’t know which options to choose, being systematic will at least minimise the chances of making too big a mistake.

In this session we look into ways that systems thinking can impact our lives, for our own good.

  • How we’ve applied systems thinking since we were kids
  • How we help our children reach adulthood by relying on systems
  • How we can apply systems thinking to improve our well-being, relationships and so many aspects of life
  • Creating mind maps for our personal and business lives
