Wellbeing, Relationships + Self Improvement with Kurt Everard, TIACS

In this session Kurt will be examining Wellbeing, Relationships and Self-Improvement, and in particular:

  • Core features of self identity
  • Relationships
  • Get comfortable being uncomfortable

We are all experts in our own existence but there are endless opportunities for growth across our lifespan. It is clear that the LLB community goes above and beyond to support each other. Keeping this in mind, this session will act as an exercise focusing on several core features of the self – ideally with a bit more nuance and depth than we are used to when discussing this notion.

We’ve all heard it before – “make sure you get a good night’s sleep,” “you just need to eat better,” “get to the gym”. Unfortunately these objectively good pieces of advice are normally delivered without any depth or tact by a range of different professionals. They certainly create a good foundation but how can we improve them while also building on the positive momentum that they create? We are all our own unique individuals and therefore, will have a range of different perspectives to share among the group.

We are social beings and need people around us whether they are friends, family or partners. Relationships are the #1 presenting factor among clients at TIACS. Unfortunately, like anything in life, relationships are not always smooth and problems may arise. This week we will be focusing on romantic relationships given there will be other opportunities across the year to discuss communication in a variety of other contexts. There are two dominant theoretical approaches to improving relationships  which will platform this part of the discussion (no prior knowledge required).

We will finish our discussion looking at ways to get comfortable being uncomfortable. No, we don’t have to be Nedd Brockmann who recently championed this phrase and run 4000km across Australia but there’s always new ways that can help us to reach our ceiling.
